GRIT SEPARATOR AND WASHER
Wastewater depuration cycles involve a combination of chemical, physical and biological processes. Primary mechanical operations, for example, entail a sand removal and de-oiling phase.
To achieve the best performance, we have developed a circular grit separator and washer fitted with a hopper bottom. This creates a spiral motion to facilitate the sedimentation of solids suspended therein, thanks to the synergy between the centrifugal force generated and the force of gravity applied to the corpuscles.

MOD. X-VORTEX
The X-VORTEX grit separator and washer is designed to separate sandy material from organic matter. Effluent enters the tank and is stirred by paddles. This motion facilitates the separation of organic matter from sand. Organic matter remains suspended and then spills out of the tank. The sand, whose specific weight is greater than that of water, settles on the tapered bottom and is extracted by an air lift pump.
HOW A VORTEX SAND SEPARATOR WORKS
Solid material with high water content enters the hopper and settles inside the tank. During this first step, the water immediately exits the hopper through the holes present in the lower part of the channel. The material rises towards the top of the compactor while the churning paddles move it towards the top of the tank with a slow rotating motion. During the process, the material is strained and subsequently compressed by a shutter, located at the tank end, before being discharged.
The material, now strained and dewatered, is conveyed to apposite containers. The water at the bottom and top of the channel collects in a tray and can undergo further treatment. Contact us to inquire about our products!
