SET3<\/h2>\n<p>The SET 3 combined unit performs a primary screening operation through a screw screen located at the machine inlet. Particles exceeding the size of the screen openings remain trapped. The set of brushes mounted on the screw conveyor remove and lift the solids that are washed and compressed before being discharged. The whirling motion created by an air blower causes sand, grease and organic matter to separate. The latter two remain suspended in the water whereas the sand sinks to the bottom of the tank as its specific weight is greater than that of water. A screw conveyor located at the bottom moves the sand to a pit where an extractor screw carries it outside of the machine. Suspended greases are collected by a hopper. \u00a0A set of paddles dragged by a chain scrape the water surface.
