Floaters are sized according to the inlet flow rate, the quantity of SST and the type of wastewater. When used in cured meat or butter factories, for example, larger pipeline sections are required owing to the considerable amount of fat present in the effluent. Influent water coming from collection sites is stored in silos or underground tanks for accumulation. The chemical-physical flotation system must be fed at a constant flow rate. A static or dynamic screen must be incorporated to prevent solids exceeding 3 mm in size from hindering the flotation process.
